The Streets of Treasures in Ragusa 2026: dates, coupon, and what to see over the four weekends
From October 24 to November 15, 2026, Ragusa opens eighteen locations between Ibla and Ragusa Superiore: air raid shelters, palaces, gardens, and churches. Dates, coupon, and how to organize your visit.
From Saturday October 24 to Sunday November 15 2026, Ragusa participates in the Streets of Treasures, the festival that opens for a few weekends places that are normally closed or little known. This year there are eighteen, between Ragusa Superiore and Ibla.
The dates
It’s only on weekends: October 24-25, October 31-November 1, November 7-8, and November 14-15. Most locations are open throughout the festival.
Exceptions are the Torre Littoria, visitable from October 31 to November 7, and the Palazzo della Prefettura, from November 7 to 14.
Two cities in one
After the earthquake of 1693, Ragusa was rebuilt in two parts: one on the plateau, the other on the site of the ancient city, along the slopes of Ibla.
The festival route requires moving between the two, entering still-inhabited homes, gardens that remain closed on other days, theaters, and churches.
Must-see places
Air raid shelters. There are two, on Via San Giuseppe and Via Rapisardi, telling the story of the city during World War II. The one on Via Rapisardi is a new addition to the festival.
Vallata Santa Domenica. More than a place, it’s an immersion in the ancient history of Ragusa. It’s one of the longer visits, about an hour.
Pirrera District. It was abandoned due to a landslide and has remained frozen in time since then.
Theater and garden of Palazzo Donnafugata. A small 19th-century theater located in the basement of the palace and a private Italian garden, normally invisible to passersby.
Conversation Club. A gentlemen's club in the heart of Ibla, one of those places you imagine more than visit.
Ancient Market. The visit also includes a tavern, with a stop for a glass of wine.
All other locations
Completing the program:
Palazzo della Prefettura (from November 7 to 14)
Torre Littoria (from October 31 to November 7)
Convento del Carmine, established around 1574
Palazzo Sortino Trono, built over fifteen years
Palazzo Arezzo Trifiletti, the shortest visit: twenty minutes
Chiesa di Santa Maria dello Spasimo, with the richly decorated portal
How much time is needed
Almost all visits last 30 minutes. Pirrera and Palazzo Sortino Trono require 45, Vallata Santa Domenica and Casa Museo Appiano one hour, Palazzo Arezzo Trifiletti twenty.
Adding up the durations, to see all eighteen sites takes just over ten hours, excluding travel time. It’s not just a weekend: it’s better to choose one area at a time.
A walk outside the city
On Sunday October 25 at 10 AM, with a repeat on November 8, there’s a loop of about three kilometers from the rock church of Santa Rosalia to Castello San Filippo.
You walk among carobs, olive trees, and dry stone walls until you reach the nineteenth-century neo-Gothic tower, with naturalistic guides from AIGAE of Kalura.
In the following weekends
The festival arrives at Cava San Leonardo, with Luisa Manni from Be Rural, and at Marina di Ragusa. Here Antonio Carnemolla tells the story of the ancient village, which until 1928 was called Mazzarelli, with photographs and family memories.
Coupons and reservations
For visits to the sites, coupons are required, purchasable on the festival's website or at the entrances:
3 euros for one entry
10 euros for four entries
18 euros for ten entries
The math is simple: the four-entry coupon costs 2.50 euros per visit, the ten-entry coupon 1.80. If you plan to see more than six sites, the ten-entry is worth it.
Coupons are not personal: a group can use them together, even in different locations, as long as the value is not exhausted. After purchase, a voucher with a QR code will be sent via email to show at the entrance.
Booking visits is recommended but not mandatory. Without a reservation, you can arrive directly, but without the certainty of finding a spot.
Walks and experiences work differently: the visit coupons are not valid, and you must book and pay for that specific one.
Some activities only start with a minimum number of participants; in case of cancellation, those who booked will be notified and refunded. Bad weather, however, does not entitle you to a refund. Children under 6 years old do not pay.
